Ski Boot Fitting

Experience unmatched comfort and performance with our ski boot fitting service at our Cardiff store.

A correctly fitted ski boot is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can buy. We provide the perfect fit for maximum comfort and the confidence to perform on the slopes.

A ski boot fit usually takes around 1.5 to 2hrs, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. We strongly recommend getting your boots fitted several weeks before your holiday, so you have time to break them in at home and have any potential issues corrected.

You will need to bring a pair a ski socks with you. Alternatively, we have a range of options in-store to purchase.

When you arrive in-store, you will be asked to complete an information form, please answer this as accurately as possible as this information will help your boot fitter find the most suitable options.

01

Foot Analysis

Our trained ski boot fitters will start by asking a few questions about your skiing experience and goals. Then, they’ll measure the length and width of your feet in a seated and standing position. Whilst they're measuring, they’ll be looking at the height of your instep, shape of your foot and lower leg. With all this information they’ll be able to select suitable boots for you to try on.

02

Testing

To start, you’ll be given two different ski boots. Your boot fitter will help you put them on and fasten correctly. You’ll then need to remain in the boots for around 5 minutes, doing a combination of walking and ski related movements. This is an important step as over time pressure points might appear or disappear, and you will have an idea of what is feeling good. After this your boot fitter might give you a third boot to try, or if one is feeling great, try the pair on. Again, you will need to spend around 5 minutes in the boots to ensure everything is feeling correct.

03

Customisation

Now you’ve found a boot that feels good, it’s time to make it feel great! The insoles in ski boots are designed as a place holder and offer no support or stability for your feet. Your boot fitter will explain the benefits of different insoles and what will be suitable for your feet. The insole will be fitted to your boot and the boots put back on to check everything still feels good.

If everything feels good, then the inner liner is heated up in an oven for a few minutes before you put the boots back on. Whilst the liner cools, it conforms to the unique shape of your foot and lower leg.

If you're feeling pressure or discomfort anywhere, tell your boot fitter. The hard shells of ski boots are designed to be stretched and altered as our feet are all different. Explain where you're feeling pressure and your boot fitter will take your boot and alter it to give you more room in that area. You’ll be asked to place the boots on again to make sure everything is feeling perfect.

At home

Your boot fit isn’t over yet! Before you head off to the slopes it’s important you spend some time in your new ski boots. Your boot fitter will give you a series of movements to do over a two-week period. This will ensure there are no issues prior to skiing. If something doesn’t feel right, then come and see us so we can make alterations before you go skiing.

Occasionally, there are issues that arise when skiing in new boots, if this happens then come and see us when you get home, and we’ll make the necessary alterations. Please avoid letting anyone else work on your boots.

Love this shop!

I’ve been skiing for a few years but this was my first boot purchase. It was great to have someone who was knowledgeable and cared about getting a tailored fit for me. My boot fitting took 1.5 hours and was tweaked a number of times to get an exact fit.
There is an impressive range of high-quality boots and any other equipment you’ll need for the mountains. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. I’ll definitely be visiting again and highly recommend.
